– June 21, 1886) was a Scottish
Clairvoyant, Physical
Medium
with the ability to levitate
to a variety of heights,
speak with the dead, and to produce rapping and knocks in houses by
request to the Spirits in attendance.
Throughout his years of
work, all manner of persons attended his séances,
including scientists, doctors, newspaper reporters and owners,
politicians, judges, royalty, etc. and none were to ever report any
skulduggery despite heavy investigation.
Home’s reputation as an honest man of faculty was
known by all who had first-hand contact with him. His
biographer, Peter Lamont, opines that he was one of the most famous
men of his era. Harry
Houdini described
him as 'one of the most conspicuous and lauded of his type and
generation'. Home conducted hundreds of séances,
which were attended by many eminent Victorians.
One of his
books,
“Incindents In My Life” contains
a forward written by J.W.
Edmonds, a U.S. Supreme Court Judge who attended and investigated
Home's séances
on more than one occasion. One of his wife's books, “D.D.Home, His
Life And Mission” contains a forward by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in
which Doyle not only verifies Home's abilities but also admonishes
Home for his unfair judgement during
his own investigations of
other Medium “types” which differed from his “type”.
All books written by Home
and his wife are still in print today as
they are in high demand by all who endeavor to continue to discover
the connection between science and spirituality.
Home traveled across
continental Europe and the
United States , always as
a guest of admiring
patrons and never directly
requesting

In Paris, he was summoned to the Tuileries

Sophia of the
